In 1952, Giotto Bizzarrini constructed his first car, the Bizzarrini 500 Macchinetta coupe. He designed several models for Ferrari, Lamborghini, ans ISO during the years from 1953 to 1963. In 1962 established the Autostar Company which was renamed two years later to Prototipi Bizzarrini and renamed again to Scuderia Bizzarrini.
In 1963 Bizzarrini showed the Grifo A3 Competizione roadster at the 1963 Turin Motor Show. Exclusive sports cars under the Bizzarrini brand were produced from 1964 to 1969.
Over the next 25-plus years, various attempts have been made to revive the marque including a BZ 2001 prototype shown in 1990. At he 2000 Turin Motor Show, the prototypes of the Kjara and Bebi were shown with the Bebi to be produced in Sweden.
In 2002, Bizzarrini was taken over by the newly-established VGM Motors. The new company debuted the GT Strada 5300 Replica and the GTV 4.4 V at the 2005 Geneva Car Show.
