1929 Cadillac Series 341-B Victoria Conv. Coupe | 1929 Cadillac Series 341-B Victoria Conv. Coupe 57,200.00 USD Offered For Sale at the: RM Auction - Vintage Motor Cars at Meadow Brook Hall August 6, 2005, Auburn Hills, Michigan RM Auctions One Classic Car Drive Blenheim, Ontario N0P 1A0 Canada Phone: 519-352-4575 Website: www.rmauctions.com 1929 Cadillac Series 341-B Victoria Conv. Coupe LOT: 068 Estimate: $70,000-$90,000 US Chassis No. 337518 AUCTION RESULTS: Lot was Sold at a price of $57,200 90hp 341 cu. in. three-main bearing V8, Cadillac/Johnson float-feed carb, new three-speed selective, synchromesh transmission, full floating rear axle and four-wheel Duplex-mechanical brakes. Wheelbase: 140" In 1929 Cadillac celebrated record sales for its most successful year in the company’s history. The new series 341-B Cadillac went into production in the Clark Avenue plant in August 1928. Styling changes were kept to a minimum, but the 1929 Cadillac models are immediately recognizable by their relocated parking lamps from the cowl to the tops of the fenders. The newly designed four-wheel Duplex-mechanical brakes required less pedal pressure for surer stops. Two industry innovations were safety glass and a full synchromesh three-speed transmission. Shatterproof Security Plate glass in all widows was an important safety feature in 1929. The new transmission was as revolutionary as the 1912 self-starter in making motoring easier and more relaxing. Gone now were the days of double de-clutching – at least in a Cadillac. GM’s A.F. Denham noted at the time, “The new transmission entirely eliminates any attention to relative engine and propeller shaft speeds when shifting either up or down, between intermediate and high. A downshift also involves no double de-clutching. It thus enables a quick shift into intermediate for traffic conditions and steep hills.” The fitting of double-acting Delco hydraulic shock absorbers enhanced both handling and ride, while inside fully adjustable front seats improved long distance driving comfort. There was also an increase in power. Cadillac’s smooth V8 was increased to 90hp, 341 cu. in. and fitted with a Cadillac/Johnson float-feed carburetor. Perhaps one of the stateliest of body styles in 1929 was the Cadillac Victoria Convertible Coupe. This unique example featured a one off body designed for a German engineer, his aesthetic penchant was exercised on the Cadillac, with its white coachwork, contrasting red fenders, wide beltline accents, matching wire wheels and folding black cloth top with landau bars. It is outfitted with optional wire wheels, Goddess radiator mascot, driving lights, and more. Having undergone a full restoration and in excellent condition, this Victoria Convertible has the mechanical prowess to match its beauty. With its powerful V8 and Synchro-Mesh transmission, this CCCA recognized 1929 Cadillac is an ideal touring car. Lastly, it should be emphasized that Cadillac’s Victoria Convertible Coupe was a rare model in 1929, which makes it even more elusive and sought after today. by Douglas |

Its compact and vintage design make this Rat Rod so unique. Sold on a Bill of Sale only. Special conditions apply. Description Monster Garage invaded the shop class at the Texas School for the Deaf. With Jesse James as your teacher, you can imagine the kind of assignment you will be given. The nearly all deaf team, comprised of two teachers and six students under the guidance of professor Jesse James created the ultimate rough and rowdy, rusted roadster, just in time for the weekend. The team was given the frame of a 1932 Ford roadster to start. While the kids attended classes during the day, Jesse set out to find the perfect body for the car. From a local, he received a body of a 1929 Model A roadster pick-up. The students had no idea what they were in for. To get the body attached to the frame, the frame had to be pinched. So the cross member of the frame was cut so that the body would slide on. After the body was in place, the cross member was welded back to the frame. Additional cutting and welding also included lowering the window frame of the car, and mounting the 350hp Chevy engine to the frame. The team had a little trouble finding rear axel plates that fit, without correct plates, the wheel, and all hell, would break loose. On the final day of the build, determined to finish on time, the students took the wheels off an inoperable car in the parking lot of their school and placed them on their custom roadster. After the initial start-up, and a little bit of fireworks, The Rat Rod was completed. "These guys are dangerous," exclaims Jesse as the team controls a small garage fire. THE TEAM: Jesse James, custom-bike builder/designer, West Coast Choppers, Long Beach, CA, Mickey Jasso, TSD Senior, Bryon Terell, TSD Senior, Greata Cole, TSD Sophomore, Michael Anglin, TSD Senior, Mickey Thomas, TSD Sophomore, Caleb Goodpastor, After School Program Hearing Student, Austin High, Keith Baker, Welding Teacher, TSD, and Donald Pekar, Auto Mechanic Teacher. VEHICLE SPECS: Engine: 350 Chevy; Height: 3' 8"; Width: 5' 7"; Length: 11'; Ground Clearance: 5". MONSTER SPECS: Special Welds: Rails from frame welded to the '29 Model A frame. The Cross member was cut and welded to pinch the frame. Also the motor mount was welded to the frame. by Douglas |
