1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe | 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe 74,800.00 USD Offered For Sale at the: RM Auction - Vintage Motor Cars at Meadow Brook Hall August 6, 2005, Auburn Hills, Michigan RM Auctions One Classic Car Drive Blenheim, Ontario N0P 1A0 Canada Phone: 519-352-4575 Website: www.rmauctions.com 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe LOT: 035 Chassis No. 8357456 Sold at a price of $74,800 150bhp 346 cu. in. 90°, L-head V8 engine, three-main bearings, hydraulic lifters, Stromberg carburetor, selective synchromesh three-speed manual transmission, Hotchkiss semi-floating rear axle and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 126" The renowned egg crate texture of the front grille that appeared in 1941 is accredited to sketches made by Arthur Ross and refined to a flatter look by Harley Earl. The dominant chrome grille and high crowned, coffin hood and heavy bumpers were skillfully grafted into the bodywork so as the styling melded into a stylish harmonious shape of which legends are created. It was the first time in which a front valance panel filled the space between the bottom of the grille and the front bumper. A grille guard was built into the front bumper between the vertical bumper guards. The entire front end was graced by a new Flying Lady mascot. The 1941 Convertible Coupe is virtually flawless in itsgraceful and tasteful styling. With the convertible top up, it is important to note that this was the final year where there were no rear quarter windows. The convertible top was raised and lowered by vacuum assisted cylinders – unlike previous models that had hand-operated tops. The interior of the Series 62 Convertible Coupe was fashioned by Fleetwood who provided a choice of eight leather trim options. A perennial favorite amongst Cadillac collectors, the 1941 Cadillac Series 62 is a gem, but by far one of the rarest and most desirable is the Convertible Coupe. Despite the fact that Cadillac sales hit an all time record high in 1941, few remain of the 3,100 convertible coupes built. The Cadillac Series 62 presented here was subject to an intensive frame-off restoration, which has resulted in a convertible coupe that rivals the best in the world. It is finished in a stylish, attentiongetting Antoinette blue the color highlights the sensual lines of the Cadillac’s body. Inside an exacting, Jenkins rich leather interior draws you behind the wheel. Cruises, even on cool nights, are possible thanks to the snugly fitting tan Haartz cloth top. Options are everything on fine open Cadillacs and this pristine example comes equipped with fitted fender skirts, a factory offered radio and amber colored Cadillac foglamps that are fully integrated into the grille. Recently fully checked and serviced by Brian Joseph Restorations, this classic, mint Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe qualifies for all CCCA sanctioned events and ensures you will arrive in an award-winning style. by Douglas |
1941 Studebaker President Skyway Sedan Coupe | 1941 Studebaker President Skyway Sedan Coupe 36,000.00 USD Offered For Sale at the: RM Auction - Vintage Motor Cars at Meadow Brook Hall August 6, 2005, Auburn Hills, Michigan RM Auctions One Classic Car Drive Blenheim, Ontario N0P 1A0 Canada Phone: 519-352-4575 Website: www.rmauctions.com 1941 Studebaker President Skyway Sedan Coupe LOT: 084 Estimate: $45,000-$55,000 US Chassis No. 7144660 AUCTION RESULTS: Lot was Not Sold at a high bid of $36,000 117bhp 250.4 cu. in. straight eight-cylinder engine, nine main bearings, Stromberg carburetor, three-speed transmission, semi-floating rear axle and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 124.5" With the arrival of stylist Raymond Loewy, Studebaker was able to maintain its leading edge design image. For 1941 Loewy penned a new modern look thanks to a wider, lower stance featuring inclined die-cast side grilles, an increased glass area, and air vents in the sides of the cowl. He made the cars lower in overall height, yet was able to maintain headroom. All Studebakers also featured wider, more comfortable seats. Gone too were the running boards that had been considered an important feature for decades. The unique Skyway models bore wide chrome trim around all the windows, chrome fender lights and twotone instrument panels to complement the two-tone exterior paintwork with a tapering, contrasting band and bolster-type pleated upholstery. Wide whitewall tires were also standard. Remnants of Art Deco styling could still be found, but these styling cues were quickly fading as the new jet age was approaching. A real innovation for 1941 was the President Skyway Sedan’s one piece windscreen that was unique to this model in the Studebaker line up. The highly attractive Skyway models came in both six-cylinder and eight-cylinder guise and in a variety of body styles, but the most charming and handsome were the President Skyway Sedan Coupes. The rare President Skyway Sedan Coupe offered here is a six passenger, eight-cylinder model with 117bhp in a sporty-looking body style, which proved to be very popular. The highly regarded Shrock brothers of Pennsylvania restored this Studebaker President Skyway Sedan Coupe to concours condition just a few years ago. The frame-off restoration resulted in a number of National Senior First Place Awards, as well as many Best of Show nominations. Highly attractive and restored for both show and go, this stylish and powerful eight-cylinder 1941 Studebaker President Skyway Sedan Coupe with its two-tone styling, thin pillars, front fender top parking lamps and full rear fender skirts continues to turn heads and put smiles on the faces of the people that see it. The two door Sedan Coupe was a mid year introduction and offered in the Skyway series only for 1941, but in all three President models of trim variations for 1942. Rarely offered, and highly sought after, this is an opportunity to join an elite group of Studebaker enthusiasts. by Douglas |

1941 Ford 3/4 Ton Model 11D School Bus | 1941 Ford 3/4 Ton Model 11D School Bus 20,900.00 USD Offered For Sale at the: RM Auction - Vintage Motor Cars at Meadow Brook Hall August 6, 2005, Auburn Hills, Michigan RM Auctions One Classic Car Drive Blenheim, Ontario N0P 1A0 Canada Phone: 519-352-4575 Website: www.rmauctions.com 1941 Ford 3/4 Ton Model 11D School Bus LOT: 101 Estimate: $25,000-$35,000 US Chassis No. 6073970 Offered Without Reserve AUCTION RESULTS: Lot was Sold at a price of $20,900 85hp 221 cu. in. L-head V8, four-speed manual transmission, four-wheel leaf springs with coil springs and four-wheel drum brakes. Wheelbase: 122" Ford trucks had their humble beginnings in 1905 with the Model C Delivery Car. It was a 10hp vehicle that featured a delivery top and sold for $1,000. Because of very poor sales the vehicle was discontinued and customers wanting a Ford truck had to have it built outside of normal production for the next seven years. In 1912, on the Model T chassis, the Delivery Car was reintroduced with the sales pitch, “The car that delivers the goods. Tougher than an army mule and cheaper than a team of horses.” In 1928 Ford produced its first panel truck based on the Model A. But it was not until 1938 that Ford started selling trucks in reasonable quantities as they introduced their first one ton pickup, with a 3/4 ton series added in 1939. However, in 1940 Ford struck a chord with their revised lineup of 3/4 ton trucks, considered by many to be the most attractive trucks of all time. The front end was similar to the Lincoln Zephyr that gave the new trucks an attractive streamlined look while remaining effective for their purpose. The panel version of the truck featured tongue and groove hardwood flooring, the spare wheel mounted between the passenger door and the rear fender on the right side of the truck. A rare and wonderful piece of Americana, this 1941 Ford nine passenger school bus was custom built from a 3/4 Ton Panel Truck by Novelty Carriage of Spokane, Washington. It was used in the Seattle area from 1941 until the mid 1960s. One of two known to have been built, this is the only one remaining. The bus received a cosmetic restoration a few years ago and was shown in many local car and truck shows in the State of Washington. The bus runs and drives quite well and would be perfect addition to any museum exhibit or to just own for fun as it would provide room for all. by Douglas |

1941 Packard Model 1901 110 Coupe | 1941 Packard Model 1901 110 Coupe 17,050.00 USD Offered For Sale at the: RM Auction - Vintage Motor Cars at Meadow Brook Hall August 6, 2005, Auburn Hills, Michigan RM Auctions One Classic Car Drive Blenheim, Ontario N0P 1A0 Canada Phone: 519-352-4575 Website: www.rmauctions.com 1941 Packard Model 1901 110 Coupe LOT: 028 Chassis No. DE14852122 Sold at a price of $17,050 100bhp 245 cu. in L-head inline six-cylinder engine, four main bearings, Stromberg carburetor, selective synchromesh three-speed transmission, separate frame and four-wheel hydraulic brakes disc wheels. Wheelbase: 122" On September 16, 1940 Packard introduced its Nineteenth Series for 1941. The company would go on to build 34,700 of its popular One-Ten models that featured fresh, modern styling. The headlamps were now blended into the front fenders, yet the traditional tall grille made it immediately identifiable as a Packard. Wide vertical catwalk fender grill sections were added and the bumpers were redesigned. The shorter hood louvers incorporated hood releases. This redesigned Packard was the last of the One-Ten models. That nomenclature would be dropped in 1942. The dramatic blue and gold Packard 110 Coupe offered here is an older restoration that has been completely refurbished since being recently removed from a museum’s collection. A frame-up restoration decades before had preserved the car well. The original sixcylinder engine was fully checked and serviced. The carburetor was rebuilt, as was the fuel pump. The gas tank was renewed, the entire braking system overhauled and new wide whitewall tires fitted. Cosmetically the chrome and stainless was repolished or replaced, and worn or faded paint areas were professionally blown-in where necessary. The brown corduroy and velour interior, although not original but practical and hard wearing, was thoroughly cleaned and rejuvenated. The original radio and heater were repaired and are now fully operational. The engine and engine compartment are clean and tidy with some detailing. This Coupe is a wonderful driving Packard and ready to join the local cruise nights or club events anywhere you wish to drive. In 1941 Packard ads claimed that year’s models were, “brimming with beauty.” Thoroughly tested at Packard’s famous proving grounds at high speeds, though sand traps, water crossings, up ridiculously steep hills and on the banked track, the tough One-Ten confirmed it was true to its heritage. The One-Ten with its distinguished, traditional style of an earlier era had a classic look that would fail to reappear following World War II. by Douglas |
