1947 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe

1947 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe
49,500.00 USD
Offered For Sale at the: RM Auction - Vintage Motor Cars at Meadow Brook Hall August 6, 2005, Auburn Hills, Michigan RM Auctions One Classic Car Drive Blenheim, Ontario N0P 1A0 Canada Phone: 519-352-4575 Website: www.rmauctions.com 1947 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe LOT: 110 Estimate: $60,000-$80,000 US Chassis No. 4G7319 AUCTION RESULTS: Lot was Sold at a price of $49,500 150bhp 346 cu. in L-head V8 engine, three main bearings, two-barrel carburetor, Hydra-Matic transmission, coil and leaf sprung suspension and four-wheel hydraulic brakes. Wheelbase: 129" Although based on GM’s C-Body cars, the Cadillac Series 62 models were by far the sleekest that the corporation offered – the model’s elongated pontoon-styled fenders flowed gracefully into the body. From its revised, yet still distinguished, formal egg-crate chrome grille, to its delicate, curving, vertical taillights that provide the slightest hint of the fins to come, the 1947 Cadillac Convertible Coupe emulates the feeling of motion even standing still. Over the war years Cadillac’s Hydra-Matic transmission was improved and in 1947 the shifts were positive and smooth. The Series 62 Cadillac is a tremendously capable tour car that easily holds its own in modern traffic. Inside, leather trim and Hydro-Lectric window lifts were standard. The new “sombrero” chrome-plated, stainless steel wheel discs contained red Cadillac crest inserts in their centers. This beautiful black Series 62 Convertible Coupe with its black cloth top and rich black leather interior has a most formal look. Originally a rust-free, clean Texas Cadillac, it underwent a thorough frame-off restoration in the late 1990s. Advanced features include such niceties as its Hydra–Matic transmission, power windows, power seat, radio and heater. Just 6,755 1947 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupes were built and they have the distinction of being the only open-bodied model in the entire line-up offered by GM’s most prestigious division that year. Of course, far fewer have survived over the ensuing six decades, which makes the 1947 Convertible Coupe a very desirable addition to the collection of any discriminating Cadillac connoisseur.

1947 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible

1947 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible
67,000.00 USD
1947 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible 67,000 LotNumber 746 Exterior Color YELLOW Interior Color 346cid/150hp V8 L-head with an automatic transmission. Frame-off mechanical restoration in the late '80's and recent cosmetic updates. 1947 Cadillacs are desirable as it was the last year for this body style and marked the introduction the now famous "sombrero" hubcaps. The engine received hydraulic lifters and hardened ball seats and the interior received standard Hydro-Lectric window lifts. This car has the optional Hydra-Matic automatic transmission and fender mounted antenna. It is finished in Pale yellow over black, and received a high-quality full restoration in the late 80's-early 90's. It then sat static in a major collection in the Northwest until now as it comes out of the estate of the gentleman who owned the collection. The quality of the car is outstanding with all new chrome, completely new leather interior, new soft top, new wide whites, and striking pale yellow paint. The look is eye-catching and gives the car great presence in any company. It is also mechanically sorted and drives like a dream. A beautiful, show-stopping Cadillac.
