Dealing with the Woody's rusted-out body and parts of the frame proved to be a major obstacle. The team swapped out the front end of a donor Ford Bronco and fit the transfer case and larger engine into the old Woody. Woody fabricator. Getting the engine timing and wiring correct also became nerve-racking toward the end of the build on the final day. We still can't get over the fact that Dick Dale performed during this build. Sorry, we just can't. 1950 Buick Super Riviera Two-Door Hardtop | 1950 Buick Super Riviera Two-Door Hardtop 29,700.00 USD 1950 Buick Super Riviera Two-Door Hardtop $29,700 Worldwide Group Auctions The Old Car Heaven Museum Auction June 19 - 20, 2009 Website: www.wwgauctions.com Lot # 123 263 cid, valve in head inline eight-cylinder engine rated at 124 horsepower, three-speed manual transmission, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes; wheelbase: 121.5" Despite new body and design for 1949, when the 1950 model year opened up, Buick was there to greet it head-on and with a grille filled with huge chrome teeth. During the previous season a new body style had been introduced, the Riviera hardtop, available that first season only in the Roadmaster series. In 1950, a new Riviera was introduced in Super series for the first time, and with a base price of $2,139, it was nearly $500 less expensive than the Roadmaster. The public responded well; a total of 56,030 were produced, with this example having been well preserved. With just over 43,200 miles, it is basically an original car, finished in white over black, which looks to have been freshened a few years back. Interior appointments feature supple red leather seating, AM radio, deluxe heater, and clock. Buick offered high quality and high drivability in all models, perhaps none more than the Riviera. Well cared for with great looks all around, when this car is offered on the block you will have to ask yourself, "Wouldn't I really rather have a Buick?" by Douglas |
