1957 FORD THUNDERBIRD
#10386, Burgundy, vinyl interior, 312 V8, auto transmission, 127,000 (thought to be original). Power steering, tachometer, removable hard top, restored in 1972, same owner for 30 years. The car was re-painted and the interior was reupholstered in 1973. The interior is burgundy tuck-n-roll. The paint is holding up fairly well. It has scratches and paint chips throughout, but is presentable. Its a 20-footer. That is, from 20 feet away the car looks nice but upon closer inspection some of the scratches become apparent. It is bubbling where lead seams are. I have repaired these areas. The floor pans and trunk are solid - no rust issues. I do not think that the car has ever been in a wreck. The bumpers have some surface rust. The rest of the chrome and stainless are in good shape. The car has skirts. No soft top. Needs new tires. The paint is blistering where factory seams were leaded in, and I am currently repairing these areas with fill, primer and matching paint. There are seams at the top of the front fenders, below headlights, and lower rear quarter panels that I am addressing. This car appears never to have been in an accident and there are no rust issues with the car whatsoever. The floor pans and trunk are solid. The bumpers have surface rust and could use re-chroming. The rest of the chrome/stainless is good. There is no soft top with the car - only the removable hard top. According to the owner, the top came without a port hole, it was an option. He states that this actually makes this top worth more, as it is rare and dosen't cost much to have one installed if that is your preference. The car comes with skirts. It could use new tires as they are dry rotting and have cracks. The interior is slightly post-period tuck-n-roll and is a very nice job. It is done in burgundy to match the exterior, with white trim. The interior is in very nice shape. The dash has no cracks or issues. The only flaw with the upholstery is a seam separation in the driver's seat cushion, and the carpet is worn and dry rotted, so that it is brittle. The headliner, visors and door panels are in good shape. The rear-view mirror needs rechroming but the stainless is in fine shape. The car will start, run and drive. This car is a perfect candidate for restoring; no rust, could use paint and interior if you prefer. Data plate numbers: 40 VV XK 4K74005AP. The car was originally Flame Red with a matching top and a White interior. It was produced Oct. 6, 1956 and appears to have been delivered through the Seattle sales district. It resides in the Seattle area today. For more info, visit www.ClassicCarGuy.com!
