1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe
LOT: 035
Chassis No. 8357456
Sold at a price of $74,800

150bhp 346 cu. in. 90°, L-head V8 engine, three-main bearings, hydraulic lifters, Stromberg carburetor, selective synchromesh three-speed manual transmission, Hotchkiss semi-floating rear axle and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 126"

The renowned egg crate texture of the front grille that appeared in 1941 is accredited to sketches made by Arthur Ross and refined to a flatter look by Harley Earl. The dominant chrome grille and high crowned, coffin hood and heavy bumpers were skillfully grafted into the bodywork so as the styling melded into a stylish harmonious shape of which legends are created. It was the first time in which a front valance panel filled the space between the bottom of the grille and the front bumper. A grille guard was built into the front bumper
between the vertical bumper guards. The entire front end was graced by a new Flying Lady mascot.

The 1941 Convertible Coupe is virtually flawless in itsgraceful and tasteful styling. With the convertible top up, it is important to note that this was the final year where there were no rear quarter windows. The convertible top was raised and lowered by vacuum assisted cylinders – unlike previous models that had hand-operated tops.

The interior of the Series 62 Convertible Coupe was fashioned by Fleetwood who provided a choice of eight leather trim options. A perennial favorite amongst Cadillac collectors, the 1941 Cadillac Series 62 is a gem, but by far one of the rarest and most desirable is the Convertible Coupe. Despite the fact that Cadillac sales hit an all time record high in
1941, few remain of the 3,100 convertible coupes built.

The Cadillac Series 62 presented here was subject to an intensive frame-off restoration, which has resulted in a convertible coupe that rivals the best in the world. It is finished in a stylish, attentiongetting Antoinette blue the color highlights the sensual lines of the Cadillac’s body. Inside an exacting, Jenkins rich leather interior draws you behind the wheel. Cruises, even on cool nights, are possible thanks to the snugly fitting tan Haartz cloth top.

Options are everything on fine open Cadillacs and this pristine example comes equipped with fitted fender skirts, a factory offered radio and amber colored Cadillac foglamps that are fully integrated into the grille. Recently fully checked and serviced by Brian Joseph Restorations, this classic, mint Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe qualifies for all CCCA sanctioned events and ensures you will arrive in an award-winning style.
