Aptly described by automotive journalists and enthusiasts as the most beautiful Sports/GT car of all time, the Maserati Ghibli was the hit of the 1966 Turin Italy Automobile show. Designed by the brilliant young Giorgetto Giugiaro while working for Ghia, the Ghibli was conceived to serve the same market as the Lamborghini Miura and the Ferrari 365 Daytona. The Ghibli proved much more desirable having outsold both while being priced higher at a cost of $19,000. The interior was more opulent and larger than the competition, the engine was bullet proof and with power steering and air conditioning the car found itself the object of desire among the elite. The Ghibli Spyder was built in fewer numbers than the Daytona spyder with only 125 examples produced between the years of 1969 and 1972. These cars are excellent investments and seldom available.
This particular well-sorted example has benefited from ongoing attention and care and, as such, is ready for showing or to be enjoyed on the most prestigious of road rallyees. Finished in the very desirable colors of red with a cognac colored leather interior this car presents as stunning both inside and out. The 4-cam V8 mated to the 5 speed transmission is the tamest of exotics at low speeds and capable of 160 mph at top end and all the while codling it’s occupants in air-conditioned comfort with power steering and many power conveniences. The Ghibli is truly delightful due to its uncompromising driving experience, which is superior to the competition. This car would be a worthy addition to any serious collection and will no doubt be a prized possession for it’s next fortunate owner.
