Leon Duray, one of the most popular drivers at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the "Golden Twenties", earned the number one starting position with record breaking performances on two occasions. He set a new four-lap mark of 113.196 miles an hour in 1925 and in 1928 established a new one-lap and four-lap records of 124.018 and 122.391 mph respectively. This is the Miller front drive car he put on the pole in 1928. This type of racecar made Harry Miller famous throughout the sport of auto racing. He also built a rear drive Miller chassis using the same 8-cylinder engine.
