This car was built from an original Ford 5 window coupe. It has a TCI frame witha 4 link rear suspension and a 9” Ford rear end. It has 4 wheel disc brakes and a new Chevrolet crate 350 with dual fours and a new Chevrolet crate TH350 Auto. It has vintage A/C and a tilt steering wheel. The car has been chopped and lowered to gain the “look”. It has been louvered on the hood and deck to give the Bonneville salt flat look. The car is absolutely a work of art and drives superbly well. Then, in 2007, at a show where all that matters is how fresh and new a car is, MT set it out for SEMA '07, too! That's like getting struck by lightning while winning the lottery! Summit Racing Equipment displayed it at their 2007 Super Summit show then put the car on display indoors for a month. Barry Meguiar showed the car and its owner on Car Crazy Central on the Speed Channel, and it was the junior judges' favorite at the prestigious Glenmoor Gathering of Fine Automobiles. That's quite a resume for a three-year-old, even by horse racing standards!Let's start under where the hood should be. Like any good hot rod, it's all open for the world to fear. That's a .030 over 392 inch early Hemi sitting there, stuffed full with a balanced crank and rod set, Ross pistons, a mean Isky cam pushing Hot Heads' sprung stainless valves. An old school Hot Heads short tunnel ram holds a pair of Holley 390's topped by a polished, finned sugar scoop air cleaner that matches the valve covers and valley pan. MSD supplies the spark with a billet distributor and control box to Taylor wires while a 7 qt pan keeps things slippery. Did I mention the headers? If your mind wasn't blown with the engine, get underneath. The Lobeck frame with Pete & Jake's components is the same perfect Viper Red as the body or it's covered in chrome. The 9 inch rear is smoothed and painted red, too, and gets suspended by a chrome 5 link rear with aluminum coilovers. The front suspension features a classic flipped axle and transverse leaf spring setup, again done in chrome. Polished Wilwood 4 piston disc brakes at all four corners haul the car to a stop. Even the driveshaft is chromed! There's an undercar trans cooler for the ATI-built Turbo 400 transmission that's good to 800hp, so you know that ain't gonna blow! Price: $99,900. Built by a west coast boat builder in 1959, this awesome wood car will complete any collection. The story behind the car is that the builder wanted a unique hotrod, one that reflected his superior woodworking skills along with his knowledge and love for boats. He started by building a wood body modeled after a Modern Mechanics Magazine article, then he sourced out an ultra rare 1952 Ariel Square Four motorcycle engine and transmission for the power. The suspension was taken from a Citroen of the era, and rest was all hand fabricated. Many parts are period correct new car pieces, the taillights are Cadillac, the headlights are generic part store replacements, and the fuel cell is a California Speed shop special. Driving this car is an experience only a lucky few will ever have. Starting the engine is easy, just turn the key. The pedals are like that of a normal car, the shifter is a sequential 4 speed, braking is done by four wheel hydraulic drum brakes. The real fun is cruising around town and seeing the looks on people’s faces, accelerating thru the gears is exhilarating, but the car stays stable while doing so. The exhaust note is fantastic due to the hand built side exit pipes. Proper running lights for legal street driving where installed when the car was built, however comforts like climate control are absent. After building and driving the vehicle for a short time the builder put the car in storage, and later sold the car to a Nevada Collector. The car remained in the care of that collector until it was purchased by a friend of the museum during a Rare Motorcycle hunting trip to Vegas, shortly after the car was transported to St. Louis it was sold to the Museum. It is important to note the original condition of the vehicle, the high build quality and excellent care the car has received over the years has preserved it very well, a piece of Americana from a similar time of innovation and individual creativity. The car does have a clear Missouri title as a 1952 Ariel and carries the VIN from the motorcycles engine.
