1953 Rolls-Royce Phantom IV Limousine | 1953 Rolls-Royce Phantom IV Limousine 1953 Rolls-Royce Phantom IV Limousine Coachwork by Hooper Used bt His Highness Abdul Illah, Prince Regent of Iraq One of the rarest Rolls-Royce motorcars ever built - and the only model to be factory equipped with a straight-eight engine - the Phantom IV was available exclusively to royalty and heads-of-state. Only seventeen were delivered to customers when they were new. This car carries the only example of this style of Hooper coachwork fitted to a Phantom IV. It was built to the order of His Highness Abdul Illah, the Prince Regent of Itaq for the coronation of his nephew, the King. Unfortunately, the Prince was assassinated in 1959 in the revolution that eventually brought Saddam Hussein to power. At the time of the uprising, the car was at Hooper's in London for servicing and was saved as a result. The Phantom IV is so highly refarded that, of the seventeen cars delivered new to customers, eight are still owned by their original purchasers or their heirs. This Rolls-Royce Phantom II, chassis number 70TA, is considered by most experts to be the most sporting Phantom II coupe ever built. It was ordered through the sole Canadian dealer, R.P. Collyer, Ltd., of Montréal. The customer, J.E. Smallman, Esq., of London, Ontario, placed his deposit on December 11, 1934 for this 40/50hp special-bodied two passenger sport coupe. Ordered with many continental specifications, this was a one-off design, style number 8321, by the renowned coach builder Hooper & Co. Appointed with a Louis Vuitton auto travel trunk and an Austrian-made, 1930's six person drinking and sandwich picnic set. The case is green leather with step-top lid, opening to reveal a red lined interior housing various food containers, food boxes, wicker drinks bottles, Autotherm, drinks bottles, glasses and cups with the cutlery held in leather straps inside the lid. The car received a cosmetic restoration in the late 1980s, which included new paint and replacement of the leather interior. The last owner spent $35,000 on mechanical work to ensure the car was in excellent driving condition. All systems were serviced and repaired as needed, including cooling, exhaust, suspension and electrical resulting in a car that is a strong runner and a delight to drive. It completed the 2003 Rallye des Alpes, as well as several other recent vintage touring events. It comes with extensive service history and ownership documentation including Rolls-Royce chassis card and invoice, Hooper body invoice, ownership history and service records. The car was taxed and inspected in the United Kingdom in 2003, making it easy to export to the UK. by Douglas |

1949 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith Hooper Saloon For Sale | 1949 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith Hooper Saloon For Sale 1949 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith Hooper Saloon For Sale This beautiful Hooper bodied Saloon is a one off car with a very interesting history. In 1948 the cheif designer for Hooper an Osmond Rivers, was commissioned by Hooper to design a “new look” to get away from the classic designs which had continued after World War II. He produced seven bodies. One of which was shown at Earl’s Court Motorshow in 1948. Fearing a reaction the car would not be as well recived because it was as he called it “rotund” Hooper asked him to design a car that was more “razor edged”. The result was design number 8234 on Job no. 9568 on chassis number WGC16. No other body was made just like it. It was displayed to great acclaim as a primary car at the 1949 Earl’s Court Motorshow. A one off prototype that influenced many designs to come. The car is documented with hundreds of pages of Hooper factory correspondence prior and post delivery. Also pages of Factory build sheets documenting all of this cars very unique features. Finished in its original factory color of Maroon with gray connelly leather piped in maroon with maroon wool carpeting. Also the chrome wheel discs are factory correct as well. The car was completely disassembled and set for restoration in 1983. All mechanical restoration was handled by R.K. Wilson & Co., the interior restoration was handled by Wilkinson and Sharp, and the body, paint and chassis work was hanled by D&D Classic Auto Restorations. The car was finished early in 1985. The car was shown at the AACA national meet and took first in class. The car was then shown at the Rolls Royce Eastern national meet in 1985,1986 and again in 1989 and was a National Award winner all three times. At the time the restoration was completed the car had 40,500 original miles. The car has travelled just some 2000 miles since in 23 years. Being carefully maintained and preseved. A lovely patina has settled in the cars interior that only adds to its brilliant character. The car drives exactly as it did the day it left the factory. Everything functions as it should, everything. This car is documented from new until today with all factory sheets, correspondences, owner history, a letter from Osmond Rivers detailing how this car came to be, and receipts of restoration and preservation. This car is a storied piece of Rolls-Royce and Hooper history. 1959 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith All-weather Cabriolet | 1959 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith All-weather Cabriolet 1959 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith All-weather Cabriolet Coachwork by Hooper Used by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip and Prince Charles and Princess Diana of England This cabriolet is one of a pair ordered by the Australian Federal Government for a scheduled visit by King George VI and Princess Elizabeth during the late 1940s. While illness prevented the King from traveling, Queen Elixabeth used them during her two-month Australian tour after his death. They were also used for visits by the Queen Mother, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, numerous other heads of state, and the Pope. Intended for long-distance travel on dusty roads, the majestic cars were fitted with special air cleaners and extra lage capacity fuel tanks. In 1994, both cabriolets and four other Rolls-Royce motorcars were sold out of the government motor pool at a sale of Australian State vehicles when it was determined that they were used so infrequently that the costly regular maintainance required could not be justified.
