The Petersen Automotive Museum, located in Los Angeles, California is a must-see for car enthusiasts.
As we travel across the United States photographing cars shows and museums it is not uncommon for us to engage in conversation with other car lovers, some of whom are from Southern California. Almost every one of these inquire as to whether or not we have been to the Petersen Museum, telling us that it is perhaps the best car museum in the nation.
After our visit in September, 2005, we understood the source of their enthusiasm. The museum had over one hundered excellent cars on display. Included was a great exhibit of fine automobiles owned by or used by presidents, popes, and potentates from around the globe. One thing becomes crystal clear - royalty knows how to travel in style.
There was also a display of five custom-built cars from the Mattel Hot Wheels company. These were funtioning cars built to replicate some of the Hot Wheels favorite toy cars. If you?ve got a kid in your family (or in you), go see these beautiful, fun cars.
The cars we photographed are listed below to give you a glimpse of the quality of the cars and presentation by the Petersen Atomotive Museum. Gas up the Taurus, grab your camera, and go see this marvelous collection.
