Aero automobiles were manufactured in Czechoslovakia from 1928 to 1947 at which time the company was nationalized. The company was founded in 1925 to produce airplanes and introduced their first automobile, the Aero 10, in 1929 but it would be the Aero 30, introduced in 1934, that would be the company's most popular car. Sales in the late 1930's reached around 1000 cars a year.
The front-wheeldrive Aero 30 has a longitudinally mounted 2-cylinder, 2-stroke, 998-cc, water-cooled engine rated at 28 horsepower. These early roadsters has independently sprung platform frames with mechanical brakes and friction dampers. Top speed was around 65 miles per hour.
Production ceased during the War but the A30 was briefly revived afterwards with about 500 cars built with a redesigned grilles and synchromesh gearbox.
Aero was the 4th largest Czech auto manufacturer. The cars were exported to France, Belgium, Hungary, and Romania.
