Alfa Romeo Alfasud - Over 10,000 Remarkable Cars and Trucks at RemarkableCars.com
Production Dates: 1972 - 1987
Production Totals: More Than 1,000,000
In 1972 Alfa Romeo launched a mass market car with the Alfasud. More than one million Alfasud cars were sold but are rare tody because of the poor quality of the steel used to build their bodies and structural members. Rusting caused the early demise of most of the cars.
This first small Alfa Romeo had a boxer (opposed cylinders) engine and front wheel drive. Buyers could choose from 1186 cc, 1286 cc, 1350cc, and 1490 cc engines with power ratings from 63 to 95 horsepower, providing a car to meet a wide range of needs. The body was designed by Giugiaro's Italdesign with technical input from Hruska.
