Alfa Romeo, a featured marque at the 2005 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, celebrated its 95-year history with "the most significant display of classic Alfa Romeos ever assembled, anywhere," proclaimed Concours' Co-Chairman Glenn Mounger.
Sixty-two Alfa Romeos participated in the Concours, but arguably the most significant was the reunion of the three ultra-imaginative Alfa Romeo B.A.T (Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica) concept cars created by Franco Scaglione and Nuccio Bertone.
The first of these aerodynamic studies for Alfa, B.A.T. 3, appeared at the 1953 Turin Motor Show. B.A.T. 5 and 7 followed at the Turin Shows in 1954 and 1955.
The Alfa Romeo B.A.T.s were based on the Alfa Romeo 1900SS chassis.
