1954 - American Motors Corp. is formed with the merger of Nash and Hudson. The original brand names will only survive for 3 more years.
AMC offered several different musclecars during the late 60's and early 70's. The AMX was a 2-door fastback hardtop available with a variety of powerful v8 engines. The "Big Bad" AMX came out in the middle of 1969. This option-created model came in three colors and had its bumpers painted the same shade as its body. A total of 284 "Big Bad" orange cars were produced. Blue and Green cars were also available.
During the 1970s, AMC buys Jeep.
In 1987, American Motors Corporation is bought out by Chrysler Corporation.
