1921 American LaFrance Fire Truck
This Fire Engine was delivered to the City of Ashville, North Carolina in 1921 and served the city for over 40 years before being retired. The truck was built by the American LaFrance Fire Engine Company of Elmira, New York.
The fire truck is powered by a 6-cylinder gasoline engine and is chain driven. The positive-displacement all-bronze rotary gear pump can deliver in excess of 1000 gallons of water per minute. The truck is also equipped with a chemical hose tank. The radiator and carbide headlamps are constructed of German Silver and the leather covered seat is filled with horse hair. The brass caps and grab rails are made of nickelplatted brass.
