LotNumber 415
Price $18,000.00

An extremely high-quality restoration was performed on this adorable Bugeye by a group of young women as an 18-month-long high school shop project. This car has been the subject of magazine and newspaper articles in both the US and the UK and has been featured in "Sport Car Market" magazine. It's been restored to all original specifications including the beautiful Cherry Red paint, black interior and rare dealer optional luggage rack. The 43hp 984cc OFIV Inline 4 cylinder motor has been professionally rebuilt using all NOS parts. When possible during the build the team used parts that were properly date coded. Healthy survivors of this model are rare and a restoration to this level is almost unheard of due to the cost. This fun little roadster comes with a driver's handbook/owner's manual and a shop manual. The black folding softtop is new and the sliding side windows have been restored. The gearbox is a 4-speed manual and it sports an independent front suspension with coil springs. The rear suspension is made up of a live axle with quarter-elliptic leaf springs. The brakes are 4-wheel drums and the wheelbase is 80" long. When the Bugeye Sprite came to our shores in 1958, it brought sports car motoring to the young due to its low price and it continues to be one of the most affordable classics today. With a 0-60 time of 22 seconds it won't win many stop light drags but this car is guaranteed to make you smile uncontrollably while driving it flat out on mountain roads or your favorite set of twisties. Donald Healey, like so many other British sports car makers, believed that driving a slow car fast is more entertaining than driving a fast car slow. After driving this car you will only be able to agree with that philosophy.
