The new Bentley S-Type shared the same all-new chassis, suspension, and body styling of the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud being produced during the same period. While most of the S-Types produced were four-door sedans, a few limousines were built using a 4-inch longer wheelbase. Chassis were supplied to approved coachbuilders, who created custom sedan and convertible bodies.
The Series 2 was introduced in the fall of 1959 and the Series-3 in late 1962.
