The BMW Type 328 was introduced in 1936 and was considered to be a very refined sports car for the period with its aerodynamic styling and smooth handling and performance.
The Type 328 was introduced at a time when most sports cars were spartan, rough riding and mediocre in the performance department. The 328 had a 6-cylinder, inline engine with cast iron block and two overhead valves per cylinder. The roadster featured lightweight alloy body panels over ash framework mounted on a ladder-type frame. Styling included faired-in headlights and integrated flowing body lines.
BMW's British concessionaires, AFN Ltd., imported the Type 328 as the Frazer Nash-BMW.
This car is the only Type 328 bodied by the renown French coachbuilding company of Figoni et Falaschi Carrosserie in Paris.
