This Bugatti has a 170" chassis and is chassis number 41150. This car is one of six Type 41 Royales built by Ettore Bugatti who designed the Royale to be "the car of kings." Each Royale had its own unique body style and all six still exist and can be accounted for.
Styled by Ettore and built at the Bugatti factory in Molsheim, France, the body is made of thousands of small blocks of wood glued together and shaped by hand with woodworking tools to form the contours.
This body style was called the Berline de Voyage as it closely resembled a 19th-century horse-drawn coach. The leather top can be folded partially or completely down.
This car and one other Royale - the Kellner-bodied coupe - were owned by the Bugatti family and both cars were hidden behind a false wall at their Chateau near Paris during World War II.
