In 1986, Italian entrepreneur Romano Artioli was finally successful in purchasing the Bugatti trademarks. With boundless ambition he set out to build the ultimate supercar - a car to out-do Ferrari, Lamborghini, Jaguar or any one else. However, slow developemnt and poor timing proved to be against the effort. The world-wide economic recession caused many of his early purchase orders to be cancelled, sending the company into bankruptcy after only a handful of cars could be delivered.
