The name was taken from the historic and, of course, prestigious European city of Biarritz, France. Styling changes for '56 included the addition of a smart, twin-bladed hood ornament suitable for impaling unsuspecting pedestrians and a pair of ribbed chrome "saddles" on the door tops. This Eldorado convertible is 1 of 2,150 available to the World. They were gobbled up by celebrities such as Elvis Presley, Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran and the most affluent people. There weren't many left for the public. Under the hood, the Cadillac V8 was enlarged to 365cid. Compression was 9.75:1. Horsepower was rated at 305. The engine has 2 Carter WCFB 4-barrel carburetor, Model #23715. The engine number and frame numbers all match. The stunning Chantilly paint and two tone white and black interior match the numbers from the factory. The speedometer read only 850 since the restoration was complete. It is loaded with standard items for the '56 Eldorado such as power windows, 6-way power seats, Wonder Bar radio, EZ-eye glass, auto trunk lock-release, Sabre Gold aluminum wheels, gold grille, automatic eye, Tri-color package, fog lamps and Continental Kit. I have never seen a car quite like this one. It is completely original in every way down to the paint. It has only 50K miles on the odometer and I have no reason to believe it is anything but original... the way it was when it came off the production line. The most unusual feature of this car is the rear bumper. I have never seen one like it and I think it may be a factory bumper. But, I do not know enough about these cars to even venture a guess.
