1940 Cadillac Fleetwood Touring Sedan
$26,400
346 cid L-head V8 rated at 140 horsepower, three-speed manual synchromesh transmission, independent coil spring front suspension with semi-floating rear axle, four-wheel hydraulically-actuated drum brakes; wheelbase: 138"
A synonym for luxury, Cadillac has long touted itself as "The Standard of the World," and a look at this 1940 Cadillac Touring Sedan reveals why. This stately black five-passenger vehicle drips with class from the sleek art-deco chrome exterior to the comfortable and spacious interior complete with luggage compartment, bar, and footrest. This sedan, one of only a few of Style 40-7219 extant, has been treated to a sympathetic restoration some years ago and has held up very well since. The interior has been completely replaced and today shows very little wear on the leather front upholstery or rear velour. The dash and steering wheel have been repainted and the woodgrain around the windowsills has been restored and lacquered. A look under the hood reveals the same signs of an older restoration. Here the new owner has the opportunity of leaving it as-is or detailing to show quality. The overall presentation of this vehicle is such that it could be driven without care or worry or easily be pushed over the edge as a show-stopper wherever it goes.
