He is said to be the father of the tail fins and the 48 is the start. He designed the car in his barn at his home and kept the clay model covered at GM until he got the blessibg of the top brass to make a Cadillac with this bold feature. There were 5450 series 62 Convertible’s made in 1948 at a cost of $3442, near the price of a modest home at the time. The car is powered by an L-Head V8 producing 150hp mated to a 4 speed hydr-matic transmission that makes the car easily capable of highway speeds. This particular car comes from one of the finest collections in Southern California. The car was the recipient of a nut and bolt frame off restoration to absolute correct concours standards. It is finished in its original combination of Cascade Green with tan leather, tan top, and the leather grained dash and door panels. The car has been maintained by Mosier Restorations it runs and drives perfectly and recieves thumbs up everywhere it goes. The cost of the restoration far exceeds the price to own this timeless automobile. This car comes out of a prestigous Southern California collection and was restored by a very knowledgable collector that elected to ad some beautiful custom touches during the cars extensive restoration process. It appears at one point in the cars past it was equipped with air-conditioning. Since it still retains a few of these components air-conditioning can be readily installed for those in warmer climates. Receipts of restoration accompany the car. The car is beautifully finished in red with red leather interior and a black Hartz cloth top. The car is well equipped with power windows, power seats, power steering, power brakes, power top, power antenna, working original radio, the 390 cubic inch 325hp V8, the 4 speed hydra-matic automatic transmission, extremely high grade leather and deep pile carpeting. The chrome is flawless and triple plated, the glass is as new as well as the paint, trim and rubber. The car floats down the road just as you would expect a Cadillac of this quality to do. Everything on the car works properly. The car is extremely straight as you can see in the pictures. Great care went into the restoration of this car.
