1917 Chevrolet V-8 Touring -
Photographed at the National Automobile Museum in Reno, Nevada. Photos by Douglas Wilkinson
This Chevrolet is a very rare example of Chevrolet's early attempt to produce an 8-cylinder automobile. While Chevrolet records of that era are poor, it is believed that only 511 of the V-8 models were produced during 1917. Chevrolet continued building the V-8 engines until 1919 when they returned to making only 4-cylinder cars. A 6-cylinder engine was introduced for the 1929 models but the next 8-cylinder would not be made until 1955.
