This Cortez Silver Corvette Hardtop Convertible is a numbers matching recipient of the National Corvette Restorers Society highly coveted Duntov Mark of Excellence Award. It was driven across the United States in 1990 to earn the Duntov Award. Zora signed the triangular aircleaner cover. NCRS judging was repeated in 2005, verifying Duntov Award originality, condition and function.

This three-owner Southern California Stingray from Eddie Hopper Chevrolet, Garden Grove, is the best of all show 1969 Corvettes. Besides being authentic, it has a lively documented history of being driven. Every system works in this flagship of the F-105 fighter wasp-waist style, "cokebottle" cars. The odometer reads 25,778 miles on this body-on owner and professional restoration. In a 1991 "Corvette Restorer Magazine" article you can meet the original owner, discover Elton John spilled his beer on the car in 1970, and then encounter the story of the restoration and the quest for the Duntov Award.

Original equipment includes an L71LR special high performance 435hp 427ci V8, Muncie close-ratio 4speed transmission, 2 stage Cortez Silver lacquer paint, black vinyl interior, optional hardtop/soft-top delete, special-purpose suspension, 3:70 ratio positraction, power brakes, full transistor ignition, power steering, Match-mounted F70-15 red stripe tires, audio alarm system, AM/FM pushbutton radio, document envelope, window sticker, protecto-plate, keys with knockouts, and California registration showing Christmas (12/26/68) as original date of sale.

Other successes include: the 2006 CSP Calendar (August), Palo Alto and Santa Barbara Concours D'Elegance awards, 2005 NCRS Founders Award, and NCRS Sam Folz Award. This car has been the subject of "Corvette Restorer Magazine" technical articles detailing restoration tips for original parts retained on the car.
