1954 Chrysler New Yorker Town & Country Station Wagon - Over 10,000 Classic, Collector and Current Cars and Trucks at RemarkableCars.com.
1954 Chrysler New Yorker Town & Country Station Wagon
$6,325
331 cid "Hemi" head V8 engine rated at 235 horsepower, two-speed Power-Flite automatic transmission, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes; wheelbase: 125.5"
Probably no other station wagon had a better marketing name than Town & Country. For they were equally at home doing chores for mom, around town by dropping off the kids for a little league game or doing some shopping, or taking dad and his buddies out for a weekend of fishing, camping, or just enjoying the outdoors. In the New Yorker line, these cars were not cheap, with a base price of $4,023, extras like radio, heater, and automatic transmission could take the final price tag over the $5,000 mark.
This well appointed example, one of just 1,255 ever produced, is fitted with the above mentioned accessories, as well as very desirable power steering. Finished in a dark green metallic with a very attractive dark brown and tan leather interior trim, this station wagon is one of the few survivors from that limited run. Powered by the Hemi V8 and Power-Flite transmission, driving this beauty in 1954 must have been quite a thrill. With station wagons being one of the strongest segments in the collector-car world, this Town & Country is sure to be a head-turner wherever it goes.
