1955 Chrysler Windsor Deluxe Convertible
$44,000
331 cid Hemi V8 engine rated at 225 horsepower, two-speed Power-Flite automatic transmission, four-wheel power assisted hydraulic drum brakes; wheelbase: 126"
For 1955, Chrysler was all-new, showing off the first of its "Forward Look" concept that the company's Chief Designer, Virgil Exner, was promoting. This year Chrysler offered three distinctive series, and its marketing plans were perfect for the high-water mark that was about be set.
Windsor was the entry-level series for Chrysler, but there was no skimping on the list of both standard and optional features. This top-of-the-line Deluxe convertible appears to have been given a body-on-the-frame restoration in the early 2000s. It features a number of accessories including Power-Flite automatic transmission, power steering and brakes, heater-defroster, AM radio, and electric clock. A very expensive extra was chrome wire wheels, which this example is wearing, with the proper whitewall tires. The white top fits quite snug, looking to have never been put down while the interior, done in a vibrant red-black vinyl, captures the essence of the 1950's where color meant everything. This is a rare and unique opportunity to own one of the biggest and most attractive Chryslers ever produced, one that is sure to make others envious when you?re seen behind the wheel.
