1956 Chrysler New Yorker Station Wagon - Over 10,000 Classic, Collector and Current Cars and Trucks at RemarkableCars.com.
1956 Chrysler New Yorker Station Wagon
331 cid Hemi V8 engine rated at 225 horsepower, two-speed Power-Flite automatic transmission, four-wheel power-assisted hydraulic drum brakes; wheelbase: 126.0" Odometer: 92,369 miles
Station wagons were a major part of the mid-1950's automotive scene, and this wasn't lost on Chrysler, which promoted several different trim levels for the first time in 1955. The trend towards bigger and better wagons was still growing with suburbia seeing more of these beautiful creations. They were also popular props on TV shows such Sky King and Sheriff of Cochise, both of which featured these sharp wagons.
The example being offered by the Old Car Heaven Museum is equipped with its original Hemi V8 and push-button Torque-Flite automatic. Finished in its factory Mint Green paint accompanied with a 1950s stylish dark green vinyl with plaid motif, it is a rather well appointed example fitted with the very desirable factory chrome wire wheels, as well as power steering and brakes, radio, heater, and clock. While the exterior of the car looks to be original with a patina of age, under the hood appears to have been completely restored, while the interior looks to be in process of restoration. This wagon provides a great solid starting point for a collector?s vehicle that is sure to grow in both value and appreciation by fellow collectors.
