After a three-year hiatus from Detroit providing official Pace Cars for the Indianapolis 500, the car makers were lining up to provide something special for the most famous race in America. When Chrysler was presented with the opportunity to have those special honors in 1963, they stepped up with a most potent package, and they capitalized on their 15 minutes of fame by re-designating all of the "300" performance convertibles this season as the Pace Setters. Finished in a unique shade of turquoise metallic, these cars were trimmed out to the hilt and fitted with comfortable leather covered bucket seats.

This unique example offered from the Old Car Heaven Museum shows just under 82,500, which appear to be from new. It is decked out in its original white interior, accessories including the original AM radio, power steering and brakes, as well as factory air conditioning. Your inspection will find a solid rust-free car that has been well maintained, and from documentation, appears to have been sold new in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As interest in special Pace Car editions grow, one of the most flamboyant was the convertible from Chrysler; with this example just yearning to hit the road and once again set the pace.
