1961 Imperial Crown Convertible - Over 10,000 Classic, Collector and Current Cars and Trucks at RemarkableCars.com.
1961 Imperial Crown Convertible
413 cid overhead valve V8 engine rated at 350 horsepower, Torque-Flite three-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel power-assisted hydraulic drum brakes; wheelbase: 129.0"
Some of the most controversial styling efforts ever seen on an automobile were the designs found on such 1961 Chrysler products as Plymouth and Dodge, with the Imperial being no exception. From the free-standing quad headlights to the giant rear fins that seem to eclipse even those on the 1959 Cadillacs, these cars featured designs that were bold, to say the least. There was no mistaking these cars and with a list price of $5,788, the convertible was fully powered with seats, windows, steering and brakes, plus the folding top. Finished in a pleasing light yellow with pleated black leather bench seats and a black top, this car looks to have been given a cosmetic makeover a few years back. It is reported to be in good running condition with its radio, heater, and clock; it also has tinted glass and a remote controlled driver's side mirror. Only 429 of these cars were produced.
