The 1975 Citicar featured a 36-volt series wound DC electric motor running off of 6 6-volt deep-cycle HD batteries. It had a range of about 40 miles when cruising at 35 miles per hour. A top speed of 50 mph was possible. The car could then be plugged into a standard 110v receptacle and be fully charged in about six hours.Simply
The Citicar has no gears to shift -- accelerator to go, brake pedel to stop, flip a switch for reverse. The makers claimed the car to almost maintenance free. It needed no tune-ups, no exhaust system, carbretor or cooling system - just battery replacment every three years.
