1961 COOPER CLIMAX 2.5-LITRE FORMULA 1 RACE CAR
1961 COOPER CLIMAX 2.5-LITRE FORMULA 1 RACE CAR 1961 Cooper Climax 2.5 Litre Formula One This 1961 Cooper Climax is the first of two Works cars and was built for, and driven by Jack Brabham (Cooper Cars) in the 1961 Grand Prix season. The 1961 regulations saw a change to an engine capacity of 1500cc so a 1500cc Climax was first intalled. At the end of the 1961 season Jack transformed the car with the optional 2.7 and 2.5 Climax engines to meet the regulations for the New Zealand and Australian Tasman Series where the car was very successful, winning three out of eight races entered and placing second in three others. We have extensive race and ownership history on this very important Cooper upon request. This car is sure to please at any vintage racing event world wide. 1961 COOPER MONACO TYPE 57 MARK II

1961 COOPER MONACO TYPE 57 MARK II
1961 COOPER MONACO TYPE 57 MARK II 1961 Cooper Monaco Type 57 Mark II This car is regarded as a genuinely Cooper built Monaco - still retaining its original chassis which was most probably one of the very last Monacos of its type ever to leave the famous Cooper factory on Hollyfield Rd., Surbiton, Surrey, just south-west of central London. It was originally equipped with a pointed-fin 1961 type Monaco Mark III body shell but may have not been completed in 1961 as a running car. Research indicates that it was probably retained as an uncompleted chassis/body unit stored away by a former Cooper Car Company employee. From him it passed eventually to British specialist racing car and prototype bodywork manufacturer Mo Gomm of Old Working, Surrey, from whom it was acquired by respected Cooper specialist Sid Hoole. He completed this car to running order, fitting the broadly Mark II-type bodywork it still boasts today, and from him it passed via John Harper - one of the most successful, longest-serving and best known driver/dealers in British historic racing. John Harper fitted it with the 2.7-litre engine which by common consent, has performed in spectacular manner. This particular Cooper Monaco is a coil-spring rear suspension car as opposed to the earlier 1959-1960 style transverse leaf spring suspended versions. With such a powerful and torquey Climax FPF engine, it certainly offers a new owner the promise of some of the most enjoyable motor racing.
