The Batmobile, created by George Barris, was used in the movie (1966) Batman and the (1966-1968) Batman television series. This in one of the two original cars driven by Adam West and Burt Ward in filming their many heroic crusades.
To create the special car, Barris imaginatively modified an existing Detroit dream car, the 1955 Lincoln Futura, into one of the most recognizable movie cars of all time. Retaining the shark-like contours and the bubble top of the Futura, the Batmobile was endowed with crime-fighting accessories like a rocket launcher, Batscope, Detecta-a-scope, and flashing lights. Popular with audiences, the Batmobile was featured prominently in both movie and television series and remains one of the most memorable fantasy cars of the 1960s.
