Monster Garage 1975 Datsun 210 Honey Bee Drifter

Monster Garage 1975 Datsun 210 Honey Bee Drifter
6,000.00 USD
Offered For Sale at the: Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction January, 2007, Scottsdale, Arizona Barrett-Jackson Auction Company 7400 E Monte Cristo Ave Scottsdale, AZ 85260 Phone: 480-421-6694 Facsimile: 480-421-6697 Website: www.barrett-jackson.com Monster Garage 1975 Datsun 210 Honey Bee Drifter 6,000 LotNumber 64 Summary Floats like a butterfly, and stings like a 1975 Datsun 210 Honey Bee With the help of a 280hp engine from a brand new Nissan 350Z, this car is sure to "bee" one sweet-as-honey drifter. Sold on a Bill of Sale only. Special conditions apply. Description For those of you unfamiliar with the sport, drifting calls for a high-powered car with enough rear-wheel power to slide sideways through corners at high speeds. Some compare it to Rally racing, but in drifting the winner isn't the first to cross the finish line. Rather, judges determine who wins based on execution and style. All drifting competitions take place on closed courses where racers maneuver their cars into spectacular power slides around corners. To successfully execute this type of racing, a driver must figure out the balance of the car's engine power, gears, brakes and steering to go beyond the normal limits of the suspension and tire traction. That said, Monster Garage took a classic 1975 Datsun 210 Honey Bee and transformed it into a drift car with the help of a 280hp engine from a brand new Nissan 350Z. Mario Lozano, Nissan specialist and certified engine guru stated that the steering was probably the more difficult aspects to the vehicle. Lozano also dealt with having to fabricate without any drawings or dimensions and a time limit. The team also shared the joy of fitting the new 280hp Nissan 350Z engine into the little Datsun and completing all of the wiring. Jesse, and the rest of the team finished the Honey Bee on time, and the end product was a bee-utiful drift car. THE DESIGNERS: Jesse James, custom-bike builder/designer, West Coast Choppers, Long Beach, CA, Toshi Hayama, vice president, A'PEX Co. Ltd., Orange, CA, Robin Scott Hoot, transportation designer, Pasadena, CA, and Naoto Negishi, engine expert and fuel-management specialist, Irvine, CA. THE BUILDERS; Jesse James, custom-bike builder/designer, West Coast Choppers, Long Beach, CA, Jeremy Allyn, BMW technician, engine expert and hot-rodder, Van Nuys, CA, Chrissie Beavis, mechanic, fabricator and drift-car competitor, San Diego, CA, Frank Brown, mechanic and EFI engine expert, Bermuda Dunes, CA, Mario Lozano, Nissan specialist, fabricator and owner, TSR Fabrication, Carson, CA, and Naoto Negishi, engine expert and fuel-management specialist, Irvine, CA. VEHICLE SPECS: Height: 51"; Width: 56"; Length: 189"; Ground Clearance: 7.5"; Weight: 3,000 lbs. Painter: Pete "Hot Dog" Finlin, West Coast Choppers, Long Beach, CA. Special Welds: The team performed special welds on the engine mounts, steering linkage and roll cage. In addition, Mario welded an aluminum piece for the throttle body that fit onto the plate Naoto fabricated. Additional Acquired or Machined Parts: Includes a silver-plated machined part for the throttle. Body Modifications: The team modified the Datsun's front end by cutting out a large piece behind the grill and modifying the engine compartment to fit the new radiator. They also welded in a piece of stainless steel to connect to the exhaust system.

The Kaishinsa Company, established in April, 1911, presented its first prototype vehicle, the DAT in 1912. Series production of the third-generation design began in 1914. The name of the company went through several changes and in June 1934, the Nissan Motor Company was founded.

Cars built from 1931 to 1932 carried the brand name of Datson. This was changed to Datsun in 1932, the name which continued to be used until 1983. The Nissan brand was also used, beginning in 1937. Beginning in 1984, all vehicles carried the Nissan brand.

Datsun 240Z 1970 - 1973

Datsun's hot-selling Z-car has a large and fanatical following. The car was an immediate success when it was introduced in 1970 with automotive writers singing its praises for the conbination og style, performance and affordable price of $3,526. The original bodyshell would be continued through larger engins as the 260Z and the 280Z but the original 2.4 liter models are still the most popular with many. They are less affected by emissions and safety rules that came in 1974 in the U.S.
