The Suburban was introduced by DeSoto in November, 1946. The 1947 9-passenger model shown here has a great deal of local Reno, Nevada history. It is one of two Suburbans purchased by Nevada Scenic Tours and was used until 1955 to give personal tours of the Reno, Lake Tahoe, and Virginia City areas, as well as, transport guests to visit Yosemite National Park.
This particular Suburban was also rented to Hollywood stars Clark Gable and Van Johnson for personl use during a visit to Reno.
