1970 Dodge Challenger Hemi Coupe
Final Bid: $ 217,800.00
Hemi Challengers are not common but this Hemi is in a special class of rare and desirable. Of the 287 R/T Hemi Challengers produced in 1970, over 150 are accounted for in Galen Govier's registry. Of those only 15 are factory shaker cars. Of those 15, 10 are automatics. This Challenger is one of the 5 HEMI, SHAKER, 4 SPEED cars known to exist.
It is fully documented with fender tag, two broadcast sheets and title history. This is a known car and has been traced to Americus GA as early as 1978. The history of this car is documented with names, dates, places and even pictures that date to the early 80s. A huge 3 ring binder is full of over 150 pictures from the early 80s through the concours restoration finished in '05. The binder includes complete restoration receipts that are completely itemized. No expense was spared. The car was taken to bare metal and fully photographed in the raw. Original floors and quarters, uncut and unhit are well photographed. This car was never rusty. Also included are copies of old titles and registrations as well as cancelled checks pertaining to purchase and more. The Hemmings ad from '83 and letter from Galen Govier confirming inclusion in the registry and full fender tag decode are all in the well-organized binder. There is simply too much to list here.
This car is rare even beyond the special options. It is paint code FK5 (Dark Burnt Orange Metallic) with interior code H5K4 (High grade cloth and vinyl buckets in Burnt Orange). Other options include: Rallye dash, console, power brakes, hood pins, chrome exhaust tips, remote mirror, white longitudinal stripe and more. The car was restored strictly according to the broadcast sheets. The Concours restoration was completed in '05 by EAS inc in Bartlesville, OK. Their number is 918-336-7188. All documentation goes with the car and there is a lot of it. There are even pictures of previous owners and receipts they kept. A truly amazing muscle car. The ultimate Challenger!
