1954 Dodge Coronet Suburban Two-Door Station Wagon
240 cid L-head in-line six-cylinder engine rated at 150 horsepower, Power-Flite two-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes; wheelbase: 114.0" 126"
With the advent of the steel-bodied station wagon, popularity of this model increased dramatically during the early 1950s. Offered in the Coronet series, Dodge fielded the two-door Suburban to meet the needs of growing baby-boom families. Prosperity was everywhere and two-car families were not an exception but a growing necessity as mom needed to ferry the kids, pick-up groceries and take care of other related household business. This example is one of just 9,489 produced and was listed at $2,204 when new. Currently finished with a white top over a maroon body, the interior is basically original with blue and white vinyl seats and garnish trim, and making a snap to drive, Power-Flite fully automatic transmission. Still sporting its original rubber floor mat, there are normal signs of wear as the car shows 81,800 miles on the odometer. Despite a couple of minor dings the body appears to be in overall good condition with doors plus the lift and tailgate closing quite well. Very few of these wagons remain today and this is a rare opportunity to acquire a model sure to appreciate in value and admiration.
