As with all the Chrysler Corporation's passenger car lines, 1955 was a spectacular year, and Dodge touted to its customers how it was longer, lower and bigger all around. With the power of the mini-Hemi Red Ram V8 under the hood and the simple to use Power-Flite transmission, driving had never been easier. They were operated with a flight-inspired control stick, able to shift with the touch of a finger. The Coronet was the entry-level Dodge but it didn't look like an economy car. When sitting behind the wheel in front of the Flite-styled control panel looking through the "New Horizon" windshield, you knew you were on the road to prosperity. This is basically an original car with a number of appointments of the day including the very rare option of power windows. Our inspection showed this Coronet was very solid and reports are that it runs out quite well. With a base price of $2,256 when new, a total of 26,727 examples were produced. With only a handful left today, this is a great opportunity to own a fine piece of inspired motoring history.
