1956 Dodge C4-GL 1-Ton Pickup Truck - Over 10,000 Classic, Collector and Current Cars and Trucks at RemarkableCars.com.
1956 Dodge C4-GL 1-Ton Pickup Truck
259 cid overhead valve V8 engine rated at 169 horsepower, Power-Flite two-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes; wheelbase: 126.0"
Dodge introduced an entirely new line of light-duty commercial trucks in April 1955 to great acclaim, so it made sense to continue the design into 1956, designating the new models as the C4-line. Considered a "GL" model for being rated at one-ton, what is unusual about his unit is it is one of just 6,982 pickups equipped with the V8 engine. Adding to its rarity it is also equipped with Power-Flite automatic transmission. According to the dealer-script attached to the center strip of the "clam-shell" hood, it was sold new at Berning Dodge in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. Given a cosmetic restoration several years back, it is finished in a regal shade of red, with the front grille and bumper painted argent. The wide bench seat, along with the door panel inserts, has been done in a rich saddle-tan vinyl covering. This truck is also fitted with heavy duty wheels, optional tow hooks mounted on the front bumper and period after-market turn-signals. This may be one of the most unique, easiest to drive and sturdiest Dodge pickups you'll ever have chance to own; an opportunity not to be missed.
