1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix Convertible - Over 10,000 Classic, Collector and Current Cars and Trucks at RemarkableCars.com.
1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix Convertible
225 cid overhead valve in-line Slant six-cylinder engine rated at 125 horsepower, Torque-Flite three-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes; wheelbase: 118.0"
When Dodge introduced its new smaller size Dart line in 1960, all body styles were offered including a convertible in the Phoenix series. While most customers for this particular model wanted the pep and performance of a V8, the economical six was also offered, but what a six it was! The famous "Slant Six" named for the way it was installed in a car with the cylinders running at about a 45-degree angle to the ground, it is in many car people's mind, the best such engine ever produced. Finished in its original Satin White with a mauve interior, it is also fitted with factory heater-defroster and parking brake warning light. While the original Music Master AM radio is still mounted in the dash, a modern stereo is concealed behind the glove-box door. This convertible appears to have had a light cosmetic restoration in the mid to late 1980s, and shows just over 46,600 miles, but this could be on its second time around. While 8,817 of the Phoenix convertibles were produced, it would be doubtful that more 10% came with this highly dependable engine.
