In the early 1960s, when someone thought of performance they rarely envisioned their dream car being a station wagon. However, many of the high-powered engines and drive-trains offered could be ordered for this body style, which was usually relegated to utilitarian tasks such as hauling the kids or shopping for groceries. Actually, it made sense to offer these drive-trains as some of those duties might entail towing a boat or trailer, or climbing some steep terrain. We are not sure what the purpose was behind this Polara Hardtop wagon, but we know what is under the hood today. Fitted with long-ram intakes and dual Carter carbs, it has been modified with an upgraded shifter, transistorized ignition, and more. Presented in driver condition, the body appears solid while the chrome and bright trim show some patina. What makes this wagon a double-shot on the rarity scale is that it is a full "hardtop" in that when the windows are rolled down there is no center B-Pillar, adding a sporty touch to what has to be a very quick and often overlooked MOPAR performance member from the past.
