When Dodge decided in 1960 to split its full-size vehicles into two distinctively different sizes, the larger cars were placed in new Polara series. Well appointed and just about as luxurious as any medium price car, Polaras became a strong selling brand and insured its return for 1961. Fitted with the Super Red Ram V8, these cars were quick and actually somewhat nimble for their size due in large part to their torsion-bar front suspension. These cars represented the last vestige of Virgil Exner's "Forward Look," with a more conservative use of bright trim and those rear quarter fins having been shaved down just a bit. This car had been treated to a very recent body-on-the-frame restoration with new paint, all bright work polished or plated, and is reported to be in excellent mechanical condition. Fitted with power steering and brakes, it is known to drive quite well and also features an original Golden Tone AM radio, push-button operated heater-defroster and even a clock.
