1964 Dodge Custom 880 Convertible
$6,875
361 cid overhead valve V8 engine rated at 265 horsepower, Torque-Flite three-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel power-assisted hydraulic drum brakes; wheelbase: 122.0"
When the Desoto was discontinued, a step-up model from Dodge was needed. In 1962, the 880 series was born which was effectively the full-size Chrysler body with Dodge inspired trim and styling. In base form, this series became the workhorse of a number of law-enforcement agencies, while those who were looking for something more than just a Dart found plenty of power, style and affordable luxury with the Custom 880. Finished in its original color of ivory, this example appears to be powered by its original 383 V8 engine and features power steering brakes, and top as well as its original Music Master radio and push-button heater-defroster. With a base price of $3,264, these were considered medium-priced cars in their day, and just 1,058 came off the assembly line during the model year. Given a cosmetic restoration in the early 1990s, it appears to be a solid example that is reported to run-out quite well. Having been used rather lightly, a deep detailing would make this unique convertible very presentable.
