Wheelbase: 112 The 1934 Cabriolet's styling and its image have made it one of the most coveted examples of 1930s sporty cars. The Ford Flathead V8, introduced in 1932, was well-developed and making 20 more horsepower than it had upon its debut. Its gentle murmur is a constant reminder of the performance that lurks under the hood and is one reason why restored examples of these sporty Cabriolet's are so hard to find. Most of them have been sectioned, channeled and dropped into some of the most desirable street rods. The St. Louis Car Museum's 1934 Ford Deluxe Cabriolet is a Winner! In fact, it is a multiple winner including AACA Junior and Senior National First Place. Finished in Washington Blue with leather interior and cloth top in matching colors, it has straw pinstriping on the beltline accent, matching straw wire wheels and chocolate piping on the cloth top. It is fitted with a rear-mounted spare tire with a metal cover and locking hubcap. Roll up windows for a snug ride on chilly days or use the rumble seat for those weather permitting days. The 1934 Ford Cabriolet has many accessories such as a in Dash Radio, Radiator Tempature Gauge, Fog Lamps, Jeweled Cigarette Lighter, Bumper Guards and Greyhound Hood Ornament. Despite the success of the very popular Ford V-8 introduced in 1932, the Ford Motor Company fell behind Chevrolet in sales and, other than 1935, remained behind throughout the 1930s.

In 1934, Chevrolet began using independent front suspensions while Ford continued to use the same suspensions as it had for its Model T. Asked by critics why he wouldn't upgrade, a stubborn Henry Ford responded with "...the same reason we use round wheels - because we have found nothing better for the purpose".

For 1934, the Ford Motor Company offered a combined 26 different body styles between the V-8 and four-cylinder models, excluding their line of trucks and panel delivery vehicles.
