1934 Ford

Despite the success of the very popular Ford V-8 introduced in 1932, the Ford Motor Company fell behind Chevrolet in sales and, other than 1935, remained behind throughout the 1930s.

In 1934, Chevrolet began using independent front suspensions while Ford continued to use the same suspensions as it had for its Model T. Asked by critics why he wouldn't upgrade, a stubborn Henry Ford responded with "...the same reason we use round wheels - because we have found nothing better for the purpose".

For 1934, the Ford Motor Company offered a combined 26 different body styles between the V-8 and four-cylinder models, excluding their line of trucks and panel delivery vehicles.
