1946 Ford Overview

The 1946 Fords were little-changed from the 1942 model. The drivetrain was unchanged from the prewar model. The grille did receive a make-over using horizontal bars on the outside of the rectangular opening.

Ford offered two model series of their passenger cars - the Deluxe Series, the base trim level, and the Super Deluxe Series, the top trim level. Both series cars could be purchased with either a six-cylinder or eight-cylinder engine.

The Deluxe series included rubber moldings around the window openings, a horn button instead of a ring, and sun visor and armrest only on the driver's side.

The Super Deluxe series included chrome moldings for the window openings, a horn ring, two sun visors, armrests on all doors, passenger assist straps on the interior "B" pillars, and a horizontal chrome strip on the body. The convertible models also included leather interiors.
