The 50's were a very significant time for American car manufactures, some of the most memorable cars of all time were designed and produced during that era. The Ford Thunderbird was indeed one of the most popular and well recognized cars of the 50's craze. It was designed by some very forward thinking folks from Ford including Lewis D. Crusoe, George Walker and Frank Hershey all under the direction of Henry Ford II. The team wanted desperately to produce an American sports car that combined personal luxury as well as unparalleled performance. The end result was a complete success; the team had not only produced a very desirable 2 seat sports car but created a whole new market segment.
