2005 Mustang FR500C Racecar - 2006 Barret-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona.
|
The FR500C is a non-VIN, non-production, non-streetable factory hand built, race ready Mustang road racecar from Ford Racing. The first time since the 1960's that Ford has offered turn-key racecars for sale. It was designed and built to compete in the Grand American series Gran Sport class.
The first car was delivered to the customer on February 2, 2005, then three days later, won the season opening Grand Am Cup race in Daytona. FR500C's continued to garner four more victories en route to sweeping the Team, Drivers and Manufacturers championships for 2005. An incredible, unprecedented achievement!
These cars are offered in the Ford Racing Performance Parts catalog with their own part number and they will be rare. Three have already been built and only 25 more are in the works. They are hand-built from the ground up and not modified from a car that came off the assembly line.
