AUCTION RESULTS: Lot was Sold at a price of $37,400

198bhp, 292 cu. in. overhead valve V8 engine, single four-barrel carburetor, three-speed Ford-O-Matic transmission with overdrive, independent front suspension with coil springs, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 102"

This 1955 Ford Thunderbird is fully documented, with just three owners from new. The original owner, David Janssen, a Hollywood actor and star of The Fugitive television series, purchased the Thunderbird new on September 16, 1955 and enjoyed it for nearly five years. Its next owner retained the car from 1960 to 1972, at which point it was purchased by the current Florida-based owner, who has always garaged, covered and trailered the car. The Thunderbird is an AACA Junior and Senior National Award winner, and its grille plaque and confirmation letter are included with its sale.

Finished in red, this handsome Thunderbird benefits from a recent restoration which, according to the current owner, remains in excellent condition throughout. The engine, transmission, and mechanicals are all in proper running order. The correct and attractive interior features red and white upholstery, red carpeting, a red padded dash and sporty engine-turned trim. Equipped for comfortable cruising, the Thunderbird includes a power seat, power steering, power brakes and an automatic transmission with overdrive. Furthermore, a tachometer, clock, AM radio and heater round out the interior package.

With 4,200 miles since restoration and complete with its original bill of sale, owner's manual, and restoration documents, this 1955 Thunderbird is a well-sorted, show-winning example of one of the most important and iconic automobiles ever to come out of Detroit.
